Performs various tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating
systems. Monitors operating systems and performs routine preventative maintenance.
1. Investigates problems and performs repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating, cooling
and ventilation systems.
2. Performs preventative maintenance on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating and cooling
systems.
3. Monitors and inspects heating and cooling systems to ensure continued proper operation.
4. Locates, picks up, and delivers parts required for department needs.
5. Assists in monitoring the work of lower level HVAC mechanics by providing instruction and training, serving as
information resource and reviewing completed projects.
6. Checks and changes air filters on a regular basis.
7. Assesses drain problems and performs any needed repairs.
8. Installs humidifiers into system and connects water and drain pipes.
9. Determines amount of airflow required to keep carbon dioxide at a safe level; ensures this level is maintained.
Requires basic knowledge in a specific area obtained through training after high school and two years HVAC
experience
· May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
· Knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use
· Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
· Basic English language communication and math skills
· Have the ability to move heavy equipment;
· Have the ability to work at heights up to 30 feet.
· Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
· Must be able to climb ladders.
· Must be able to work in all types of inclement weather.
· Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by hotel
environmental systems. However, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and
kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
· The worker is subject to noise.; there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above
the surrounding noise level.
